説明

Parallel / Straight-Sided Splined Shafts

Heavy-Duty Power Transmission Built for Australian Workshops

Parallel splined shafts – sometimes called square or straight-sided splines – remain the working horse of agricultural drivelines, truck PTOs, mining gearboxes and heavy machinery built or rebuilt across Australia. Their flat, parallel-flank tooth geometry handles high static torque and shock loads where involute profiles can be overkill or cost-prohibitive.

Ever-power produces parallel splined shafts to GB/T 1144, DIN 5463 (light series), DIN 5471 (medium series), DIN 5472 (heavy series), ISO 14 and SAE J500/J501 specifications, supplied with full traceability and Australian-friendly INCOTERMS to your dock.

Construction Advantages of Straight-Sided Splines

Simple, Robust Geometry

Flat parallel flanks distribute torque uniformly across the contact area. The geometry is forgiving of minor misalignment and tolerates abrasive working environments where dust and dirt are unavoidable.

Lower Tooling Cost

Straight-sided splines can be produced by milling, broaching or shaping with simpler tooling than involute hobbing, lowering the unit cost on small to medium production runs by up to 22 percent.

High Static Torque

For applications where the connection is mostly static or low-cycle (PTO yokes, fitter-removable couplings), the parallel profile carries significantly higher peak loads per unit shaft diameter.

Field-Serviceable

Bush mechanics across remote Australia value parallel splines for their tolerance of repeat assembly and disassembly without the careful handling involute profiles demand.

Three Centring Methods

Side fit (most common), major diameter fit (highest concentricity), or minor diameter fit – we machine to the centring method that suits your shaft-hub system without compromise.

Backwards Compatible

When restoring vintage or imported equipment, parallel splines remain the dominant choice for matching existing hubs without redesigning the whole assembly.

Inside the Ever-power Production Floor

Ever-power splined shaft manufacturing facility CNC machining workshop CNC hobbing operation producing parallel straight-sided splined shafts

Our 18,000 m² production hall houses 28 CNC turning centres, 12 hobbing machines, 6 spline broaching presses, 4 induction hardening lines and a sealed-quench carburising furnace. Every parallel splined shaft batch is logged in our MES system from raw bar coding to final inspection, giving Australian buyers full traceability to the original heat number.

Why Australian Sourcing Managers Choose Ever-power

01

No-Drama Lead Time

25–35 days standard, 18 days expedited for repeat customers. We commit dates in writing and ship on the date we promised, full stop.

02

Pricing You Can Defend

Our parallel splined shafts typically land in Sydney or Melbourne at 30–48 percent below comparable European stock with the same metallurgical specification.

03

Direct Engineer-to-Engineer Communication

Speak directly with our spline application engineers, not a sales rep. Drawing reviews, DFM feedback and material substitution proposals usually return within one Australian working day.

04

Quality Documentation Included

Material certificate, dimensional report, hardness test, surface finish measurement, and visual inspection – all bundled with every shipment at no surcharge.

Australian Project Snapshots

Riverina Tractor PTO Yoke Replacement Programme

A NSW agricultural distributor sourcing PTO yokes for cotton harvest equipment moved their entire 1-3/8″ 6-spline yoke supply to Ever-power. Across 12 months and 8,400 units, field-failure rate stayed below 0.07 percent compared to 1.1 percent with the previous supplier.

Standard: ASAE S203 | Material: 4140 induction hardened HRC 52

Hunter Valley Coal Conveyor Drive Shafts

An NSW maintenance contractor specified Ever-power 10-tooth DIN 5472 heavy-series shafts in 17CrNiMo6 for replacement in a 2.4 km overland coal conveyor. Eighteen months on, the shafts continue running 24/6 with no measurable wear at the spline interface.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I choose parallel splines over involute?

Pick parallel straight-sided splines when peak static torque is the dominant load, when cost matters more than absolute precision, or when the design must match an existing hub. For high-cycle, high-precision applications, involute splines are usually the better choice.

Which centring method should I specify?

Side fit is the default for most general-purpose drives. Major diameter fit gives the highest concentricity and is preferred for high-speed shafts. Minor diameter fit suits ground bores. If unsure, send us your application data and we will recommend.

Can you produce SAE 1-3/8″ 6-spline PTO shafts?

Yes – this is one of our highest-volume product lines for the Australian market. We also produce 1-3/4″ 20-spline, 1-3/4″ 6-spline and 2-1/4″ 21-spline PTO shafts to ASAE S203 with quick-disconnect grooves and snap-ring grooves.

What is the typical lead time on a 500-piece run?

For a 500-piece order in stock material grades (1045, 4140, 42CrMo4) with side-fit centring and standard heat treatment, expect 28 working days from drawing approval. Longer if drop-forging blanks are required.

Do you provide a CAD model with the quotation?

Yes. STEP and Parasolid models are issued for engineering approval before machining. We also provide 2D PDF drawings with full GD&T callouts, hardness zones and inspection requirements.

Are your parallel splined shafts compatible with European-made hubs?

Yes, provided we have either the original drawing or a clean sample of the hub. We routinely manufacture replacement shafts for John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Massey Ferguson, ZF, Funk and SAME-derived equipment.
